There are many gateways that must be overcome in order to prosper as an excellent company.And when one gateway is cleared, we must proceed along a tough path on which a new gateway awaits.
At the 69th Managers’ Meeting we established a sales target of 50 billion yen after five years.To put it bluntly, achieving a target of 40 billion yen, let alone 50 billion yen, is impossible with contemporary product compositions in the traditional operational sectors using conventional sales methods.In order to achieve 40 billion yen, growth exceeding 13% each year is required.
To reach this target, 40 billion yen must be achieved at any cost, with the top priority being the nurturing of new operational sectors worth 10 billion yen.It is impossible to survive by merely following the path well-trodden by others.This must be kept clearly in mind.
The road to "50 billion yen in sales" has not necessarily already been laid.The road must be forged ahead while cutting through unexplored territories.
Trust should be placed in Kobayashi Pharmaceutical’s 100 years of tradition and results, and in the teamwork, appetite for challenge, and frantic tenacity and guts among its employees.
What should be done to carve out the road?Unknown sectors must be challenged intently.Products must be developed, markets must be developed, and sales forces must be developed.And in the process, talented people are developed and the organization is developed.When this is finished, Kobayashi’s products will enjoy a bright and abundant future.
